There are a total of 4677 rows of data in Hopewell Ledgers database.  In order to understand the nature of this database, it has been separated into 4 basic categories.

  1. People with occupations                       totaling 2201 rows.
  2. People without occupations                 totaling 1670  rows
  3. Companies                                             totaling   315  rows
  4. Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)        totaling    391 rows

Every row of data has the following sixteen columns:  (A) row identifier number, (B) last name, (C) first name, (D) gender (M = male, F = female and C = company),  (E) race,  (F) occupation 1,  (G) tenure from 1,  (H) tenure to 1,  (I) occupation 2,  (J) tenure from 2,  (K) tenure to 2,  (L) occupation 3,  (M) tenure from 3,  (N) tenure to 3,  (O) tenure to notes and lastly  (P) notes.  Usually, the “tenure from and to” were used to indicate a time span.

It is important to understand because each row of data is extracted into a file, in order to show all sixteen columns, only a set of six or seven columns can be presented on each page of this file.  Therefore you must scroll through the pages down to the bottom row of any given set of columns before advancing to the next set of columns. The identifier of every row is repeated on the next grouping of pages for the next set of columns until all of the columns are presented.
